Winter skin can be a bit delicate. With drastic climate changes happening daily due to the colder temperatures and the heat from our cars, furnace, electric blankets etc. Many are left with flaky skin, dry patches, areas of inflammation. To minimize how much moisture is lost from our facial skin there are specific things that should be done. One of the main things to remember is to protect the skin moisture barrier. This will ensure healthy moisture levels in your skin. You do that by not only hydrating the skin but layering and sealing it in with lipid rich ingredients. This helps your skin maintain elasticity & suppleness while also minimizing those fine lines.
During winter avoid doing these things: over exfoliating, skipping moisturizer, using too many drying skincare products, using really hot water.
During winter remember to do these things: apply moisturizer morning and evening, use moisture rich face masks, sleep with moisture preserving pillowcases and sheets, include face massage to hydrate from the inside,
To seal in moisture by layering your skin care:
After cleansing leave the skin damp, or spray with a hydrating toner. follow with a supportive serum of choice (vitamin C/A, hyaluronic acid). Apply a thin layer of a facial lotion/moisturizer. Then seal it all in with an occlusive "top coat". Meaning, a thick balm that will sit on top of the skin as a protective cover. One of my favorite balms to personally use and recommend is the Vitamin C Regenerative Balm by Apoterra Skincare.
This balm is very versatile. I often use it during my facial treatments. It can also be used for eye and lip care, the vitamin C is nice for under eye brightening. It is good for both day and night but I love to use it at night. Put on at night to wake up in the morning with skin unbothered! Use my code SOLITUDE for 15% your online order!
